Pierced from a solid billet and then hot rolled, cold rolled or cold drawn to size. With no weld line along the body, seamless pipe handles higher pressure and is specified by outside diameter × wall thickness in millimetres.
Cold-formed from steel strip or coil and joined lengthwise by electric resistance welding, in sizes up to 36" OD. ERW pipe is the economical pick for low and medium pressure lines such as water and oil transport.
